History
The building is located in Piazza Borghese, opposite the historic and eponymous palace . Historical sources are uncertain about the date of the building's construction but converge about the property's ownership by the Borghese family from the early 17th century until the early 20th century.
Beginning in 1606, the Borghese princes became the owners of the properties located adjacent to their palace, which were transformed from hovels into the current asset of Borghese Square.
Starting from 1606, the Borghese princes purchased all the properties located before their palace, consisting of small and modest houses in order to demolish them and create the existing piazza Borghese.
In 1676 the building was identified with number 403 as “Palazzo Maffei Borghesi Rione Campo Marzio”.
